The problem & the lens

Most demos make viewers squint.

A full-screen recording at 1080p shows everything — which means viewers see nothing. Buttons are six pixels tall. Code is unreadable. The narrator says “click here” while the audience hunts for the cursor.

● 01 / BEFORERaw screen capture

Tiny UI. Unreadable text.
Viewer squints.

↳ “Can you make the font bigger?”
— Every viewer of every untreated screen recording, ever.
● 02 / AFTERDemoLens auto-zoom

Focus pulled to the click.

Everything a demo needs.
Nothing it doesn't.

A focused capture kit, and almost all of it is free. Pro is just the precision layer on top.

01 / 13

Auto-zoom on triple-click

A quick triple-click pulls focus to that spot at 1.4×. Pan follows your cursor. No editor. No keyframes.

02 / 13

Mic or system audio

Narrate over your mic, or capture the sound of the app under demo — one clean track, muxed straight into the MP4. When both are on, the mic wins.

03 / 13

Webcam overlay

Your face recorded as a separate layer that stays put in the corner while the screen zooms. Free includes a default bubble — styling it is Pro.

04 / 13

Global zoom (outside browser)

The free Desktop Helper tracks your cursor everywhere — Terminal, Figma, VS Code, Xcode — not just Chrome tabs. No gate, no upsell.

05 / 13

Built-in editor

Trim, cut dead time, and reshape every zoom right after recording — the editing essentials, free. 4K, branding, and camera styling are Pro.

06 / 13

Up to 5 minutes per take

Plenty for bug repros, micro-demos, and PR walkthroughs. Most are well under three.

07 / 13

No account required

Install, record, download. We never see your email until you upgrade. Files stay on your machine.

08 / 13

Cursor highlight ring PRO

A soft amber halo tracks your mouse so viewers always know where to look — even in a dense, crowded UI.

09 / 13

Keyboard zoom shortcut PRO

Press a single chord to zoom precisely to the cursor — no clicks required. Ideal for keyboard-driven demos.

++ZorAlt+Shift+Z
10 / 13

Manual zoom-out control PRO

Toggle off auto zoom-out and stay zoomed until you dismiss it. Linger on the details that matter.

11 / 13

Unlimited duration PRO

No 5-minute cap. Record a full course lesson, onboarding walk, or 40-minute deep-dive in a single take.

12 / 13

No watermark PRO

Ship clean output to clients, stakeholders, or students. Looks like you made it — not like a free tool.

13 / 13

Adjustable zoom level PRO

Dial the triple-click zoom anywhere from 1.2× to 2.5× with a slider in the popup. Free records at the 1.4× default.

On global zoom:requires the free DemoLens Desktop Helper — a tiny (~2MB) native binary for macOS, Windows, and Linux. One-time install; it runs only when the extension needs it — during a recording, and briefly when the popup checks that it's installed.
The editor

Stop recording.
Start editing — instantly.

A full editor opens the second you finish a take — built right in, no upload, no second app. Trim, cut, and reshape every zoom for free. Pro adds 4K, branding, and the cinematic backdrop.

● FREE TIER · Always available06 capabilities
01 / 12

Built-in editor

Opens in a new tab the moment you stop recording — preview, scrub, and edit right there. No upload, no render queue, no second app.

02 / 12

Trim start & end

Drag the in and out points to top-and-tail the take. The timeline updates live — no re-record to lose a fumbled open.

03 / 12

Mid-clip cuts

Select dead air in the middle and cut it — the video closes the gap seamlessly, so a 4-minute take becomes a tight 90 seconds.

04 / 12

Edit the zoom timeline

Every auto-detected zoom is a marker you can toggle off, retime, or resize. All timeline editing is free — the zooms are yours to shape.

05 / 12

Export MP4 · WebM · GIF

Three formats straight out of the editor — MP4 for everywhere, WebM for the web, GIF (640px, 15 fps) for chat threads, PRs, and READMEs.

06 / 12

Export up to 1080p

Crisp 720p and 1080p renders on the free plan, never upscaled past your screen — plenty of resolution for Slack, Notion, docs, and bug reports.

◆ PRO TIER · Unlock06 capabilities
07 / 12

2K & 4K export PRO

Step up to 1440p and 2160p for retina screens, big displays, and pixel-perfect product shots that hold up zoomed in.

08 / 12

Watermark-free export PRO

Drop the corner DemoLens mark and the badge on the camera bubble. Ships looking like you made it — not like a free tool.

09 / 12

Camera styling PRO

Move, resize, and reshape the webcam bubble — circle, rounded, or square — and place it anywhere in frame. Free is a fixed default.

10 / 12

Logo overlay PRO

Drop your own logo into any corner of every frame. On-brand demos for clients, courses, and stakeholders.

11 / 12

Intro & outro cards PRO

Bookend the video with a title card and an end card — your own text, colors, and a background image. A polished open and close.

12 / 12

Background & padding PRO

The Screen Studio look: inset the video on a colored or gradient backdrop with rounded corners and a soft shadow.

It all happens in your browser. The editor reads your recording straight from local storage — nothing uploads, nothing renders in the cloud, and your footage never leaves your machine.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Answers to the things we get asked most. More on the pricing page →

01Is the free version actually free?+
Yes. No credit card, no trial period, no expiry. The free tier is a permanent plan. You get auto-zoom, the webcam overlay, audio, the editor, and MP4, WebM and GIF export — free forever. Exports carry a small watermark.
02What's the 5-minute limit on free?+
Each individual recording is capped at 5 minutes on the free plan. Most bug reports, feature demos, and quick walkthroughs are well under that. Pro removes the cap entirely.
03Does DemoLens have an editor?+
Yes — a full editor opens in a new tab the moment you stop recording, right in your browser. Trim the take, cut dead time from the middle, and toggle or retime the auto-zooms — all free. Export to MP4, WebM, or GIF up to 1080p. Pro adds 4K export, a logo, intro/outro cards, a polished backdrop, and webcam styling. Nothing uploads — your footage stays on your machine. Export before you move on: the editor keeps a take for 24 hours, then clears it.
04Does it work on Mac, Windows, and Linux?+
The Chrome extension works on desktop Chrome 116+ — macOS, Windows, and Linux. The Desktop Helper (for zoom outside the browser) supports macOS on Apple Silicon, Windows x86-64, and Linux x86-64 on X11. The full compatibility matrix and install steps are on the download page.
05Why is there a watermark on free recordings?+
It helps people discover DemoLens when you share recordings. Pro removes it completely.
06What is the Desktop Helper?+
A small native app (~2MB) that lets DemoLens track your mouse across any application — not just browser tabs. It runs only when the extension needs it: during a recording, and briefly when the popup checks it's installed. The Chrome extension handles the actual capture; the Helper just reports cursor position.
